Sling Keep A

A good sling is an essential part of a fighting rifle.  When the sling is not in use, it shifts and stirs with the rifle, and generally gets in the way. A piece of bicycle inner tube or rubber band slipped over the receiver extension or stock is a field expedient and free solution, though they do lack finesse and durability.

Sling Keep A consists of a 10" long, 1/8" diameter elastic shock cord, an ITW GTSP Cordloc for adjustability, and an ITW Zipcord to cinch the ends.  You're likely to find ITW components on your mil spec clothing. 

The supplied length of the 1/8" elastic shock cord may be longer than necessary to give the user the freedom to shorten it (we trim ours to 9" for SOPMOD stocks). Our favorite place for Sling Keep on a SOPMOD stock is through the hole ahead of the stock release latch, or the horizontal slot below the stock.  To prevent Sling Keep from unduly moving on the stock, it's best to loop it through a slot, or against anything that acts as a stop, and adjust its length with the Cordloc so it's always under tension.

IMPORTANT: ALWAYS KEEP SLING KEEP UNDER TENSION.  A loose Sling Keep will unnecessarily move about.

Unlike rubber bands, Sling Keep is tension adjustable by way of the ITW GTSP Cordloc.   When placed on the stock, the 1/8" diameter elastic shock cord, allows the charging handle to either ride and roll over it, or push it back, and does not interfere with the charging handle's operation.  Also unlike rubber bands that can deteriorate rapidly and break (unless they're UV resistant) the 1/8" shock cord is far more durable.  And it doesn't smell :)
