We are now individually offering pre-cut sections of SOLAS (Safety Of
Life At Sea) reflective marine grade tape for sale. Previously we were
reserving this only for our "2.0" survival kits, but we know some of
you have some great kits already.
SOLAS is the U.S. Coast Guard standard in reflective materials, and
this 8mil thick adhesive tape is designed to stand up to the kind of
abuse that outdoor survival gear might see (UV, cold, wet weather, etc).
Mount the SOLAS tape to the outside of your survival tin for maximum
convenience and visibility (no need to fumble through your tin in the
heat of the moment to signal), or mount on the inside of your tin if
remaining out of sight is more important.
This 2"x3" piece weighs next to nothing, but adds a ton of capability
to any pocket sized tin. Unlike a signal mirror, which has a very
narrow reflective angle where it can be seen at, SOLAS is engineered to
reflect light at angle up to 90 degrees off axis, radically increasing
the probability of being seen, especially at night!
